In Belle Époque Paris, failed artist Vincenzo Peruggia is fooled by nationalist politician Pietro Conti and ends up stealing the Mona Lisa from the Louvre. His act of political protest comes to be known as “The Greatest Robbery Ever”. But Mona Lisa comes alive and they fall in love. She challenges his beliefs and puts Vincenzo at a crossroads: He has to choose between nationalistic terrorism and art. All this is shown through the love between a poor immigrant and the most famous painting in the world.
